Berkley Cherrywood Baitcast Rod
Question
I purchased a Berkley Cherrywood rod from a garage sale a couple of years ago. It is a two piece, fiberglass, 6' rod. It is marked C10-6', recommended lure weight 1/18 - 1/2 oz. It has a metal baitcast reel seat with a finger grip extension on the underside and a manual screw lock for the reel with a cork handle on either side of the reel seat. The rod is of course cherrywood in color with silver and red wraps. It is in excellent plus condition.
Can you tell me when this rod was made, any history on it and the value, if any.
Answer
Hi Kevin,
Actually, you can still buy Berkley Cherrywood rods new at the store for around $25 or so. They have been around for at least 20 years, maybe longer, and are pretty good fishing rods. The newer rods are graphite so yours is an older model if it is fiberglass. As to value, I doubt that it would be worth more than a new Berkley rod of comparable configuration, and probably less.
Thanks, Joe
