Question
Golden Bamboo Fly Rod
Please review the attached photos of brand new, never used before, bamboo rod that I have. It was given to me approximately 15 years ago. It was found in the basement of our rural store which for years had been a hardware store dealing in many items. Alas, those stores have gone the wayside and are either running as convenience stores or large chain stores. Anyway, the only markings I see is the printing ' Golden Bamboo Fly Rod' on the butt section. See photo. The rod is a three piece ( 3 x 34.5") rod, with a second tip as a spare or maybe a different weight class, although the tips look the same. The rod has 6,the ferrules are metal and the grip is cork. My wife has always been after me to sell it but I have held off this long, LOL. Do you have any idea as to value?
AnswerDavid,
I reviewed the photos you emailed , thanks for asking the question on all experts.
Your rod is Japanese. I can tell from the photos , i.e. the poor quality of the metal components.
Originally sold by the thousands to GIs in a light long box with lures and huge flies . Mostly considered trinkets by collectors but memorial to GIs , they have little resale or fishing value. I have never seen any written history on them in English..
Good Luck
