Goodwin granger victory
Question
I have a Goodwin granger victory in excellent condition has two tips and still in the original wrap it was my uncles he said he only used it a couple of times when he was in his 20's. no broken parts no problem with the finish. it is a 9' pole. do you have any idea what it is worth. I have two pics If you would like more I can get them.
Answer
Mark,
According to Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000), the 9 ft model Victory has an extra tip valued at $70, 165 and $285 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. Add about 30% for age of book.
I got your pictures but I am not sure it is in excellent condition. The cork looks brown and used. The picture of the logo is unclear but appears to have blemishes in the finish.
Summary ?Excellent Condition
(1) Fine, original finish
(2) No missing sections or components
(3) No breaks, fractures, dirt or wear
(4) Shows evidence of only minimal use
(4) Original bag and case with tags and labels
Summary ?Very Good Condition
(1) Original rod finish with few flaws
(2) Grip, ferrules and reel seat show average, moderate use
(3) No missing or altered components (exceptions noted above)
(4) Some minor wear to guides and wraps acceptable
(5) Rod is complete with original bag and case
(6) Rod was generally well maintained and is fully functional
I recommend you get Homel (library) and read the conditions as most people over evaluate their rods.
Luck,
Mac
