QuestionHi Rich - thanks for looking at this.
I have two bamboo poles, one with a reel and lead line. The reel has a name of Mohawk / 250 yds / Made in USA. One pole has no marking and the other has H. J. Frost, Jack Frost Tackle, New York City.
I also have an unusual ice fishing rod and reel - rod has four round twists mid way on the pole and is about 30" long. The reel is a Minuteman 1810, Horrocks - Ibbotson Co., Utica NY.
Any information would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

AnswerBob,
I am respond to question on 3 rods, I hope.
I can't grasp putting lead line on a rod.
Perhaps you read about Horrocks - Ibbotson on All experts, my home page . Reels, too.

They are looked down upon by the collecting community and often they are justified. They were mass produced , rather heavy and very slow. They are not going to resale for very much.
I find two books are available at larger libraries to get history and or value:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997
Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook -Michael Sinclair
Pictures probably wouldn't help but feel free to try

I am a US trout bamboo fly rod man myself so I can抰 help you a lot.
Here抯 a book that you might find in the library that may help 揊ishing Tackle?by Graham Turner. It has English and UK rods in it.
I have never heard of the Frost rod nor is it in any of my books. Believe it or not, that says something. There may be a market for it in the UK but there probably isn't one in the US.
Some places to look:

Frost still seems to be in business in West Sussex , England.

I didn't say much about the 2nd bamboo but neither did you. Check out the description of what I need on my All experts web page above.
Mohawk is not a reel manufacture so you would need to get me more details there like patent .
Luck,
Mac
