QuestionHere's what I know...would like help with identification, value, etc...: bamboo, looks like Ted Sykes Preferred written in cursive writing, 8'3" long, with 3 different tips, metal reel seat. Thanks so much!
AnswerLeslie,
Really hard to say. You description was short. You can send pictures to
[email protected] if you like but please read the description details on my all experts web page.
Ted Sykes Preferred is not in my books or memory.
Seen lots of cursive writing but is it black, white or what ? Montague or Horrocks-Ibbotson used cursive writing but then so did Heddon.
If it is not in the books then collectors are probably not looking for it. This means low resale value.
8' 3 inches is very unusual. If all the sections are not equal then it is broken , in poor condition.
My guess is that Ted Sykes , a local sportsman to the area where the rod was purchased , put his name on a rod to sell it at a sporting goods store. We would need that area and even then we may not come up with a manufacture. I have chased one of these down in Denver , it was a great rod but I could not sell it for any amount.
