Garcia Conolon 5* 2404-A 3 5/8 oz. FlyRod

Question
I bought this brand new back in 1970. Was wondering if it is worth anything? I have been looking on e-bay have not seen nay thing. Can you help me out. I was thinking of giving  it to my Grand Son.. Thnaks Ken

Answer
Hi Ken,

The Five Star version was the second highest quality of the Gracia rods, second only to the Custom which had no stars.  In Good-Very Good condition the rod is valued at $30-$40; in Excellent-Mint condition it is valued at $50-$60.  It's not real valuable compared to some rods, but that's not bad for an old fiberglass rod.

It would probably make a great rod for your grandson.  Durable and easy to cast it will probably last a long time.  I still have my first fly rod which was given to me 57 years ago by my Dad.  It's a cheap fiberglass rod with a cheap metal reel; has caught a million fish and still works fine.  I think he would like it, especially if you take him out and teach him how to use it and then take him fishing.

Thanks,  Joe
