QuestionI forgot to include this information as well: it is listed as 9' long and also has black wrapping with orange trim. Thanks, Ryan
AnswerRyan,
Heddon didn't always put the model name on the butt section. They started that in 1951.
They started putting "2-1/2F HCH-D " (ferrule size and line weight) on the butt section in 1939.
The thread colors are correct .
The reel seat would be down load made of Tenite (looks like plastic or Bakelite). The tenite seats are usually a marbleized finish and most are brown.
Blackened hardware is usual but not always on this rod . It should be nickel silver in any case.
Ferrules should be Hand welted (soldered welt).
How do I know all this , some experience and Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair (thanks Mike). You can usually find this book at you local major library as a reserve book or ebay.
If you send a picture to
[email protected] with sufficient details, I can tell by looking if it has been restored.
But for now I am saying it is probably original. It is an odd ball or custom order.
Luck,
Mac
