Tangled line
Question
When i fish with a bobber and cast it out why does the line below the bobber get tangled up around the bobber? I've tried weighted bobbers, tried putting a splitshot down above my swivel. It does it on my rod with 4lb. test on it and my other rod that i have 6lb. test on it. Tried everything i can think of. Can you help me with this problem?
Answer
Hi Tim,
I'd almost have to see what you are doing to know for sure. But, probably have a few things to try.
First, stop on your back cast and let the bobber and line hang straight before you cast forward.
This is the most important. Teach yourself how to feather the line a second or two before the rig lands on the water. This will cause it to lay out straight before it lands. This should solve the problem. It will take a little practice and the first few may stop abruptly, but after a little practice you will have it lying down as gentle as a fly fisherman rolling out a fly line.
