Fenwick Royale RYF 906

Hi Marc!

I am pretty new to fly fishing and a friend wants to sell me a never used Fenwick Royale RYF 906, 9ft 6#.  It appears that the rod has never seen a fly line.  What should I be willing to pay for this without getting taken over the coals!  Thanks for your help!

Hi Mike,

I found one on e-bay that is selling for $90 right now, which seems to sound like a fair price.  A new Fenwick goes for about $180 right now.  I think if you could get it for $75 to $90 (or less) it would be a good deal.  Higher than that, you could probably get into a new rod with a warranty for the same money.  St. Croix Triumph, Temple Creek, or a Cabelas private label would be in that $100-$120 range and are very good rods.  

Make sure that a 6-weight is what you want.  Sometimes a great deal isn't a great deal if it's not what you really need.
