Question
Rod
Hi, I am hoping that you can steer me in the right direction on my granpa's rods. I have a Granger Victory and it has been in its case for well over 50 years.
I also have a few others that may go back to the 1930's era Grandpa had a cabin in Evergreen CO. and did a bit of fishing. How do I value and sell these?
AnswerLee,
I like the price book :
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book. There are others but none with the detail. easily found, $20 on Amazon or the library
To date rods I use Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair . Maybe be at a major library as a reserve book, $60 on Amazon.
The model Victory is pre Wright & McGill , pre 1939 but is considered a late era model.First made in 1934 with a patented reel seat that was 1931. With more detailed pictures I might get closer that 1934- 1939.
You did not tell me the length and I guess it is 3 sections with an extra tip .
Homel gives the Granger 8.5 trout fly rod model Victory with an extra tip, 3 sections a value of $75, 175 and $350 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
I am in Arvada which is about 40 minutes from Evergreen if you want to bring them by we can talk - e-mail
[email protected]
I sell them for commission on my web pages and ebay. A strong professional description and good pictures are required to get a good price.
Luck,
Mac
