Febwick part needed

Question
I got out an vintage late 70s Fenwick SF-74 4 piece combo spin/fly pack rod and was surprised to see I was missing the little plug that goes in to the end of the rod handle. The plug is removed and the rod can be switched to fly or spin and then the plug is reinserted.  Any idea on how to reobtain this small plug? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Cary,

Some ideas...they may or may not be useful.

Contact the Fenwick company (they are still in business) and see if there is any remote chance they still have one of these tucked away in the back room somewhere.  Probably not a high probability, but worth the call.

Find a small cork and carve a plug from it to fit.  Maybe a wine cork or an old fishing bobber?

Find a small piece of rubber and carve a plug from it.  Maybe a rubber ball or piece of solid rubber cylinder.

Find a small piece of wood and carve a plug from it.

Find a small bolt that fits close and slide a piece of plastic tubing over the threads to protect the rod and to make a plug.

Make sure the plug is mushroom shaped so you can get it out.

Thanks,  Joe
