Question
I have a a 7"11" 3# line weight rod...It has not been fished and the only other marking on it is Woodall Fly Rod Company...I cannot find any information on this company...It is a nice rod, med fast, and well built...but, no info...can you help me Rich??
Answer
Rob,
No info - all negatives.
Not found in my memory or the following books:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book
Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair
Classic & Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle: A Guide for Collectors & Anglers by A.J. Campbell
And that tells me it is a small company like an individual maker or it is not USA .It might be a great fishing tool but it is not very well known therefore not very collectable or valuable.
You did not specify what it was made of , bamboo (flat sided) graphite or fiberglass (round)
If fiberglass you might leave messages at fiberglass information sites:
http://fiberglass-fly-rods.pbwiki.com/
http://www.fiberglassflyrodders.info/
If bamboo or not you might leave a message at Classic Fly Rod Forum. specifically Rod and Reel Makers Forum .
Could it be UK in origin ?
If so try the book: Fishing Tackle: A Collector's Guide Hardcover, 1991 by Graham Turner at your local library.
Luck,
Mac
