Spinners
Question
Today I was fishing with a strikeking spinner bait, and I caught nothing but seaweed, what are good tactics for using a spinner bait, and what other tackles would you recomend for bass fishing from the shore?
Answer
Hi Jon,
Spinnerbaits and topwater baits are good shore fishing lures for Bass. Stick with that spinnerbait. It will work.
My go-to bait would be a plastic worm. A 4" or 6" plastic worm rigged Texas style (see http://www.probass.net/protips/JeffBruhl/jb2.php) will fish through anything and catch bass all year long. Start with a purple worm, they work everywhere. Another thing I would try is a 4" senko-type worm rigged wacky style (see http://www.insideline.net/1999/xiques-0910-99.html). This is another tactic that works everywhere and any time of the year.
If the weeds are really thick (like a mat)I'd try a weedless frog too.
Good fishing!
