Vintage Fenwick Fly Fishing Rod
Question
We have our uncle's Fenwick rod, still with original sock and metal case. FF75-4, 7 1/2, 3 1/2 oz., E 34069. The rod is in excellent condition; looks brand new. Could you provide the year and an estimate of its price?
Thanks.
Answer
Hi Elizabeth,
The Fenwick FF75-4 model was most likely produced during what is called the First Generation of the Feralite rods between 1963-1971. It is a four piece rod with one tip, made of fiberglass. With the original bag and tube, and in excellent condition, this rod would be valued in the $125-$150 range.
These old Fenwicks have a strong following in certain quarters and if you should find one of those people who only fish with Fenwick, you might be able to get a bit more. It is a nice rod. Very portable and easy to pack in and out of the back country. It would do well out west where I live.
Thanks, Joe
