Heddon Rods
Question
Could you please supply some information & value on this rod & reel.
I have a Heddon DeLuxe #2500, President Expert, 5 ft., hvy rod. It's in a bag w/
2 tips & bottom section. Pretty good shape. One tip is bent slightly.
The reel is a PFLUEGER Supreme. One side is completly round The other side
has a little bit of a tear drop shape. The handles are yellow with some black swirls and
a pearlized look This also is in good shape. The tube case is marked James Heddon's Sons.
This is all the information I can find.
Thanking you in advance for your help.
Joe, your advice please, should I keep it or sell it?
Good fishing to you. Thanks
Kevin
Answer
Hi Kevin,
The Heddon #2500 casting rod is listed in my copy of D.B. Homel's Antique and Collectible Fishing Rods Identification and Value Guide, 2003. The rod is valued in Good-Very Good condition at $145 and in Excellent-Mint condition at $285. Yours sounds like it fits in the Good-Very Good category. Having the original tube helps. Normally, I would inflate these numbers a bit because the book is six years old. However, casting rods don't really sell as well as fly rods, so I'll let you decide on how to value it.
Pflueger made lots of reels under the generic Supreme label so the model number is important. I think the one you describe is fairly common and is probably valued in the $5-$15 range.
Thanks, Joe
