Bamboo Granger rod Qs
Question
I inherited a Goodwin Granger bamboo fly rod. The sections are 33inches long (4 sections-2 tips)for a total of 99 inches. Is the rod considered an 8 foot rod or an 8 1/2? It's a Granger Victory with a patent # 2114107 and date of April 12, 1937. I do not have a reel for it and would appreciate a sugggestion for a reel that would aesthetically and functionally match up with it. Also what pound fly line would I use? I'm not sure of the weight of the rod. The rod has been refinished and is in good condition. thank you for any help you can give me.
Answer
George,
Cortland makes a decent mid priced reel.
On ebay I might look for a 揊airplay?model I have seen pn another granger and looked good.
I recommend you take the rod to a fly shop and try several reels , making sure that modern reels will fit, frequently the modern reel feet are bigger.
Yours is an 8 foot rod when put together.
It is probably a 6 weight , maybe 5 , while you are testing reels , ask for like weights and test cast.ore information ?
Did you want any other information ?
