fenwick 12 feralite
Question
Hi I have a fenwick 12' 28oz 3-6oz lures 15-30lb line, also on the rod is the fenwick emblem of course and the numbers-K111426 PS120 US patent 3.186 122 Feralite Made in the USA I want to sell it but i have no idea what year or even where to start. I have some somewhat close on ebay but not a 12'. Is this a surf rod or a spinning rod? Can you tell me the year it was more or less made? Is it valuable, should i keep it? I am baffled? My neighbor sold it to me at their garage sale for a good price along with an old reel. I got the info on the reel but the rod has me puzzled. Please help.
Answer
Hi
Your rod is a surf rod, made in the 1970s I believe. They sold in the $70 range. Fenwick makes high quality rods.
If you sell on ebay or other means the main interest will probably be a fisherman looking for a rod. I would expect it to go in the $50-75 range...but with ebay its hard to tell could do better.
The main collector interest in rods are Fly rods. They command high values than surf, spin & bait casting rods.
If your a surf fisherman I would keep it. If you want to turn it ebay is a good option. If you hold on to it, historically high quality fishing tackle does well, especially if its in near mint condition with original packaging.
Right now values are significantly down, with more people selling than buying.

I am probably a bit low on my estimate more like $75-100...higher if mint with bag, etc.
