I have a reel that looks new, or near new. The reel has the H-I logo. The box describes it as:
DOLPHIN
SALT WATER REEL
No. 181
250 Yds.
STAR DRAG
BAKELITE SPOOL
H-I
HORROCKS-IBBOTSON CO.
UTICA, N.Y.
Do you have any information on this? Is it anything special, or just an old reel?

Fishing reel values today relate well to their original cost. The high quality, expensive reels in the past command the high values today.
Unfortunately H&I was a high production lower cost manufacturer.
Your reel is a nice piece with the original box. I would estimate it would sell at an auction for around $15-$30.
