old bamboo fly rods

Question

antique split bamboo p
Joe, a neighbor of mine up here in Northern Vermont recemtly wanted to give me the three old poles that he inherited from  kin who had them for several generations. I am hestate to take them as they may have real value, can you give me some idea what these are worth
the first is called a Queen Mary made by Horrocks-Ibbotson Co 8 and a half foot
The second has no company on it and only has the name senate on the metal part of the rod and also has a patent date of Apr 7,07, I assume that it has to be 1907.It is 9 feet
The third one has no marks on it but a faded image looks simial to the Horrocks-Ibbotson company mark
All three come with an extra eye rod and all the rods are in very good to excellent condition.
Attached are the photos of rod one and rod two. Rod three is simalr to rod two.
Any idea what theses are worth on the open market. I want to make sure that I am not accepting a friends gift, as he is just emptying out his basement.
Any help appreciated ,Thanks
Carl

Answer
Hi Carl,

Sounds like these may all be Horrocks-Ibbotson rods.  My reference books do not list a Queen Mary model, but they do list a Senate model.  If the third one shows signs of the same sort of decal on the rod, it is likely that it is an H-I rod as well.

In general, H-I bamboo fly rods in the 8'6" or 9'0" lengths are going to be valued in the $50-$150 range depending on model and actual condition.  These rods sound as if they are 1930s vintage to me and the Queen Mary model is a new one for me so it is the more interesting.

Thanks,  Joe
