The American fork & hoe co. rods
Question
Marc, I have an old and slightly damaged casting rod with the American fork %26 hoe co, Geneva Ohio stamped in the well below the reel retainer. I have not found a serial no. and was wondering where they usually put it?
I received it, from my wifes uncle who recently died, along with several other rods, reels, and guns and I would like to be able to determine the mfg. date. also is it worth trying to fix it up?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Les,
American Fork and Hoe was bought out by True Temper in the 1930's some time. It's a great piece of history but probably worth $50-$100.
I am not the expert on these rods. I would pose this question to Joe Douglas. He will be able to help you find the serial number and give you a better idea of what it's worth.
It wouldn't hurt if you could send him a couple pictures.
Good luck,
Marc
