king fisher pole
Question
I have a 6ft bambo KING FISHER pole, the guides look like little barrels the pole is very stiff, handle is 18 in long. All it says on the pole is king fisher. Can you tell me any thing about it? thanks MARK
Answer
Hello Mark,
Kingfisher was a trademark assigned to Edward K. Tryon of Philadelphia. Tryon trademarked the Kingfisher logo on March 12, 1907. Tryon did not make his own items so I can't be sure who actually made your rod. If I had to guess I would say it was made by Montague to be sold by Tryon.
Your pole is made for open water fishing from a boat the reason for the long handle is for getting a good grip and leverage when fighting large fish in deep water. Most of these bamboo boat rods sell for between 50 and 100 dollars.
Hope I helped a little, have a nice day.
