QuestionMy dad left me some old fishing rods reels & tackle. One of the rods is brand new and has never been used. I would guess it is 60's or 70's. It is printed in cursive print and says Mark X No 1622- 8 1/2. Magnum Action, Line Weight-8. It has the foil Heddon sticker on it and is 2 pieces, looks like wood with red wrapping, cork handle and the end is for the reel. Could you give me a value? Also have a Heddon that says Hoosier Queen on it.
Thank you for your time. I can get a photo if needed.
AnswerHi Claudia,
I did finally find something on the Hoosier Queen by Heddon. This is one of three models built by Heddon for the Wayne Hardware company in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Other models were the Hoosier King and Hoosier Prince. These were bamboo fly rods, but I don't know which Heddon model they were based on so I can't provide an accurate evaluation for you.

Hi Claudia,
Sure. Send the photo to

Hi Claudia,
Sounds like you have a fiberglass fly rod that has the faux bamboo paint treatment to make it look like wood. In new condition this rod should be valued in the $60-$90 range.
I am not familiar with the Hoosier Queen designation on a Heddon rod. This doesn't mean much as I run into new rod models every day; part of the fun. What type of rod is it...fly, casting spinning? How long? Line weight or lure weight?
Thanks, Joe
