QuestionQUESTION: What are pack baits it is not a term I am aware of in fishing for carp in the u.k but I have seen it used on some usa sites
packbait on the hook l
ANSWER: Pack baits are the same ( in essence) as Method balls, Paylakers here in the states use the term PACK BAIT,,,,,what they do is simply "PACK" the mixture over the hook bait, or over the lead weight, Casting is not at great distance so the "PACK" mixture stays on fairly well,

Keith cooks up a treat
Last week on Tight Lines, Keith cooked up a treat for all you carp fishermen out there.
Our ace angler and carp king Frank Warwick both shared their pack bait recipes and since then we have been inundated with requests for them both.
The idea started in America and is a mixture of things people would be avble to find from American importers via the internet.
As Frank pointed out, it has revolutionised carp fishing, so just in case you missed them, here are both recipes again - and a video of just how it's done!
FRANK WARWICK'S RECIPE
250grams of Quick Grits
250grams normal Grits - flavours are optional
1 (medium size) tin of liquidised sweetcorn
?bottle of Caro (corn syrup)
Mix together until they mould around a method feeder
KEITH ARTHUR'S RECIPE
28oz of Minute Rice
28oz of Ketchup
Mix and let sit for about 30 minutes and it's ready to go.
Or...
1 box of minute rice (28 or 32 oz)
1 bottle of ketchup (28 or 32 oz)
Pput the entire bottle of ketchup into a pot, fill bottle halfway with water shake the bottle and pour into pot.
Heat until it starts to bubble and pour over rice and stir.
Then add two packs of your favourite flavour of Kool Aid.
Short to medium distance casting (won't pack really hard). You can add an egg or two (beaten up first) and the mix will pack harder.
