Pezon & Michel reel
Question
Hi. I was given a freshwater Pezon & Michel reel with the #5097 stamped 0n the spool bottom and the numbers 3 and 2 stamped inside where the spool seats. This reel is black and everything works perfectly. There are no scratches onthe reel. Any idea as of age or value? The reel case says "made in France-Brevette s.g.d.g. and Luxor Pezon & Michel licence P.Mauborgne.Thanks - Greg Borchert

Pezon & Michel was a French tackle company that started at the turn of century making fishing tackle primarily for France and the UK. They are particularly known for their split bamboo fishing rods, the fly rods are the nicest.
Your reel is a 1940-50s Luxor spinning reel - from what I can tell. It sounds like you have the reel and the box or bag. If you have the original reel, box, bag for the reel - would estimate $50-$75. Just the reel - around $40.
Note: prices are down due to the economy today - not sure how close you would hit this estimate on ebay etc.
You can get a second opinion on ORCA Fishing Reels, http://www.orcaonline.org/ select reel talk on the right hand side of the site. You will need to register to post a question. I recommend including a photo.
