eagle flyrod

Question
Have a Eagle flyrod made in Tokyo, Japan. 3 piece hexagon shape. with 3 tips: heavy, medium, and light in orginial wood box with 2 bobbers, flyline, 8 flys, snelled hooks, and silkgut leader. Would
like to know what you think the value of it is. It is also in
mint condition, never used. Thank you, Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,

The bamboo rods made in occupied Japan don't have a real hig collector value.  There are several brand names associated with these rods and they come in different configurations.  In mint condition, the rod and package would probably sell for $50-$75 to the right buyer.  I have seen values on these rise somewhat in the last few years.  On average, you can find one of these in the online auctions for $20-$40 most days.

Some of these rods seem to be better casting than others...even of the same brand.  A prospective buyer might well want to test cast it to see how it feels.  On the other side of the coin, I sold one of these in mint condition about 10 years ago for $175.00 and the buyer was happy to get it.  That rod did cast nice and was also in mint condition.

Thanks,  Joe
