QuestionHi Joe,
I have a 1950's era fly rod. My question...how to decipher the brand name. The design, on the rod, resembles an ancient god or African warrior. Coloring used,Orange, white, red and green. Black lettering. From years of use, the only visible Name lettering remaining NA-U--. The same coloration carries through, with line wrapped around the rod to keep the line eyes in place. This name identification has been a challenge. Finding your web site "hopefully" is a spring in the desert of Fly Rod Name Identification. I really appreciate your effort. Norm
AnswerHi Norm,
Do you have the ability to take and send photos to me via email? If so, please send some to
[email protected] and I'll review them. The first thing that pops to mind is maybe one of the various brand names used in occupied Japan after WW II on the rods made there. However, you didn't indicate what material the rod is made from...bamboo, fiberglass, wood, steel...so it would help if I can get a look at the rod.
Thanks, Joe
