antique fishing rod identification

Question
I bought a pole at an estate auction. It is between 4 and 4 and 1/2 feet long, hexagonal steel. 3 eyes, red. Has a pflueger reel on it. Says "pflueger bond". 2000. I am curious as to when the rod was made, and the value. Also, if you would have any information about the reel it would be appreciate. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Deb,

Sorry, I don't have any data on the reel.

The rod would have been built in the early 1900s by one of the companies like Horton Manufacturing, American Fork & Hoe or Orchard Industries; companies that made the steel rods for a variety of other companies to sell...in this case Pflueger.  The guides have agate rings inside the metal frame of the guide.

These older steel casting rods don't have a lot of collector value.  Vlaue would be in the $15-$30 range depending on actual condition of the rod.

Thanks,  Joe
