estimated prices on two old fishing rods
Question
Hello Joe: I have two old rods and have been looking to find the possible value if any for them. The first one is an Ike Walton #2725, which is a 3foot long green fiberglass rod with a cork handle. The second one is a True Temper #200T Traveler , four piece rod and it says it is made of "Carbotoy" on the shaft. I believe this one is a bait casting rod, due to the sliding metal where the reel mounts. Both of these are in really good shape. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Answer
Hi Henry,
Ike Walton is a model name used by the Horrocks-Ibbotson company, but I don't have any data on their fiberglass rods. If this is not a typo and it really is 3 feet long, I'm not sure what it is...maybe a short casting rod? The True Temper probably says "Carboloy" which is the trade name for the fiberglass mix used on the shaft. Sliding metal bands over cork usually indicates a spinning rod setup.
The travel rod would probably be of more interest to anyone buying these. Older fiberglass rods don't typically have a lot of collector value and I would guess these to be in the $10-$40 range depending on condition and what the short one actually is.
Thanks, Joe
