old St.Croix jewelled reel
Question
my dad gave me 2 old rod and reels first is St. croix jewelled reel 60 stamped on bottom, nickle and brass.on a smooth-cast beets manufacturing co. pat.pend, Detroit mich. rod.. and the other is a South bend anit-back-lash model G no.1000 with matching south bend rod. both rods are metal. and in great shape and working. any info you have would be great!!! you can e-mail me at thank you P.s. I can send pic of both rods and reels
Answer
Hi Chris,
Reels are not my area of expertise, but I believe the 60 means it will hold 60 yards of line and i think this is the older of the two. Both of these sound like older bait casting reels and rods. The older steel rods do not have a large collector following and tend to sell in the $5-$20 range depending on condition. Reels that would be contemporary to these rods typically sell for about the same prices $5-$20 depending on condition and maker.
Thanks, Joe
