Question
I inherited this bamboo rod from my uncle. It's a two piece, 7' long Hardy Palakona with serial number H7016. According to the Hardy serial number table, it was made in 1956. The rod is used; but, appears to be in good condition with the exception of black wrapping above the tip section's ferrule (visible in the photos). I don't know if this is original or a repair. The rod has a single tip and it's original Hardy cloth bag. The original Hardy label is taped to the rod tube. I don't know if the tube is original because it has no markings.I am interested in learning the value of the rod; but, have been unable to find a copy of of Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide at my area libraries. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I got one picture. I have seen broken tips repaired with electric tape. If it is shorter than the butt section then it has been broken. If it is broken condition is poor. I assume a couple of things, the rod is a fly rod , meaning the reel seat is below the handle and that the serial number is on the rod itself and not on the tube or sock. Otherwise all bets are off.
Where did you find the Hardy serial number table , please ? It is no longer at Hardy and Grays web site.

Homel gives the Hardy 7 1/2' model Palakona trout fly rod with an extra tip, 2 sections the value of $125, 295 and $550 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. You might add a few bucks for the shorter rod.
