old metal fishing poles and reels

Question
Have some old fishing equip. Where can I research them at? Like an oxford metal pole!

Answer
Mathew,
You are probably not going to find much on metal poles.
I have never heard of the maker or model Oxford. English ?see below made in Ohio

Some resources, alot of these books can be found in libraries:
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification % Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book. He mentions about 100 steel rods - no Oxfords.e better luck

You might have better luck with his reel book:Antique & Collectible  Fishing Reels: Identification, Evaluation &  Maintenance Homel, & Jellison. 1996.

Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair - probably not

Older and English: Fishing Tackle: A Collector's Guide  Hardcover, 1991 Graham Turner but hard to find.

Spurr , Dick  The Classic Chronicle's Value Guide For Bamboo Fly Rods 1999,

The Kovels antiques and collectibles price list  by Ralph and Terry Kovel limited rods and reels

Complete Book Of Fly Fishing (Mitchell Beazley, London 1998; Readers Digest, NY 1999), editorial consultant and contributing author.

Maybe Classic %26 Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle: A Guide for Collectors %26 Anglers by A.J. Campbell

What I found in goggle by searching "Oxford steel fishing rod";
http://www.rodbuildingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=23811
mentions it
says it was made by American Fork %26 Hoe Co
Search American Fork %26 Hoe Co steel fishing rods and it takes you to an answer from my compatriot Joe at All Experts it isn't germane as to value and age but it's a place to start - that's how I use the Internet but I have books and experience to back me up. The term in use is steel not metal. I am mostly a bamboo rod man so you can see my perspective.Let me know if I can help more.

Luck,
Mac
