fluorocarbon
Question
what is the best way to tie 200 lb fluorocarbon
Answer
I used to have the same problem when tying marlin, tuna, and shark rigs. My experience has lead my to realize that there are very few knots you can tie on high diameter line and most of these knots are inefective unless tie flawlessly and can be done with ease after quite a bit of practice. So I don't even bother tying knots anylonger and just use crimps. They are easier, stronger, more durable, and have a lower profile than knots on that high test line. A crimping kit can be bought off of the Internet or at a tackle shop for about $20-$30. But, if you are determined to tie knots, there are two that you can tie. One is one I came up with and is just sort of a double palomar. When passing the line through the overhand knot, pass it through twice. It is imperitive though that you go through the back of the eye when starting the knot. Then there is the nonslip loop knot or the rapala knot, or whatever name you know it by. The only modification to this knot is that when wrapping the line, only do it three times. Also, start this knot by going through the back of the eye, too. These knots take some practice to master. So a cheap way to practice is to buy a length of rope abou the same diameter as your line and practice with that because you can tie, undo, and retie with the same length of rope. Good luck, bud. I hope you catch some fish. Send a follow up question to let me know how it works.
