American Fork & Hoe fly rod
Question
The rod is made of copper, it's in excellent shape. It has a tip on it ,but the eyes are missing. Do you know where I can find the right eyes for it. I was told they have something to do with snake?
Jim
Answer
Hi Jim,
I would expect the rod to be made of extruded steel rather than copper as copper would likely be too soft for fishing rod use. American Fork & Hoe made steel rods of several varieties.
You should be able to get snake guides at any rod building supplier in a variety of colors and sizes. The name has to do with the shape of the guides. Try places like Angler's Workshop, Merrick, Fishsticks, Mudhole, etc.
If you need help replacing them, let me know.
Thanks, Joe
