Spalding fly rod

Joe,
I came across some questions you had for another person.
I have 9 foot bamboo rod with four sections, one tip is shorter.
It is in a faded green bag and an aluminum holder.
It is marked with a Spalding decal and the hand lettered #30.
The rod seat is wood with a metal butt and a loose ring, has a cork handle made of 1/4 inch rings.
The rod is in very good condition with one untied straight ferrul

Thank you for the information.

In general, A. G. Spalding & Brothers sold pretty high quality fly rods.  They sold rods made by several of the better builders of their time period.  Also in general, your rod sounds like it could be from the 1890-1900 time frame.

If you can take and send digital photos to me at [email protected] I will review them for you and see if I can narrow down the possible makers.
