fishing lure

Question
QUESTION: What does a Cisco kid lure #33 look like.  I have an uncle (in his 80's) that just told me about his favorite lure of all time.  He even remembers the store (out of business for decades) where he bought it.  He remembers the fish that took that favorite lure, where he was, the temperature of the day etc.  I would like to see if I can find another one for him.  Thanks for the help.

ANSWER: Nancy; That is a very nice thing for your Uncle.  I am sure he would very much appreciate it.  The only problem is that that lure is no longer produced.  However if you will go to
www.ebay.com and search for Cisco Kid lure you will see several of them.  Since this lure is no longer made the collectors will drive the price up but if you bid on several and watch where the prices go you may be able to get one for around $10 or so.  I did this for a Dalton Special and was able to buy three of them for $15.  Many were going for $30 up.  There are several different ones so it might be well if you could fins out from your Uncle whether his was a divided body or a solid body.

I hope you can find one that will make Your Uncle happy.  Thank you for calling on me to answer your question.

QUESTION: Jack, thanks for the response.  I first went to e-bay thinking it should be easy but no one has them listed by number.  I asked one of the sellers who has many listed and he didn't know the number on the plugs, so he said I should ask my uncle what it looked like.  I would prefer not to do that in that I would like to keep it a surprise.  Do you have or no of anything that would give me the details what that specific plug looked like.  I would assume it was not a jointed plug knowing what kind of fish (walleye on the river) he would have been fishing for.  Thanks again, Nancy

Answer
Nancy; I am sorry but I looked for Cisco #33 and got a comic book.  Is there someone who knows your Uncle who could tell you more about what it looked like.  I did not realize that there were so many different models of Cisco Kid lures.  A jointed plug would work fine for walleye as would most of the others except the surface lure types.  I haven't been able to find reference to any number 33 anywhere.  By the way the name Cisco Kid is still used but by a different company from the original and I couldn't find any of the types that were made earlier.  Mostly they are made for muskie.

I really wish I could find just what you want but looking several places on the net I have not been able to find that specific lure.  Maybe you can slyly find out more about the lure by asking some questions without tipping off why you want the information.  Perhaps you can get someone else to ask about it so he doesn't suspect.  Of course if you can't find out exactly what the lure was I am certain that even a different one will be enjoyed and keep in mind it is the thought that counts.

I will keep looking and if  I do find out something I will try to get back to you on this site.

Sincerely

Jack
