Vintage Fenwick Fly Rod Grizzly FL962

I got this fly rod from a good friend. He got it about 35 to 40 years ago. It is a two piece rod and is 9' long. It says Fenwick Grizzly Model FL962 on it. We are trying to find out if it is a #6,7 or 8 rod, or is it something totally different and what is the value of it..Please help

Hi Mark,

You are in the right range.  The rod is probably a 7wt but if you have other lines in 6wt and 8wt available, try them and see how the rod performs.  Rod line ratings can be somewhat subjective and it may work best for you with a slight change of line weight.

Value is probably in the $20-$50 range depending on actual condition of the rod.
