vintage Heddons rod
Question
I recently purchased a Heddon's maybe 1930's or close the only marking on it is on the reel mount and it says Heddons. it is 5 feet tall and has 3 eyes on it,the top 2 eyes are red,the bottom eye is silver, and it is bamboo.thanks
Answer
Hi Ron,
Sounds like a bamboo casting rod setup. It should have a model number written in black ink on the rod shaft just above the cork handle.
The red eyes are agate lined guides. The silver eye is most likely a replacement as it would have also been agate lined when new.
1930s-1940s is probably about right on age. If you can find the exact model number, I can give the range of years it was made.
Value on these rods is increasing, but right now is probably in the $20-$60 range depending on actual condition of the rod.
Thanks, Joe
