Actionglas Tubular Glass rod

I have one of my fathers old fly fishing rods. Its an 8 1/2 ft Actionglas rod made by Orchard industries Detroit Michigan Model 1686 HD?? D LINE(Letters scratched off)Can you tell me any more about the rod date of manufacture line weight etc. I would like to fish with it again after some 40 years Regards Damien

Orchard Industries was one of many post WWII manufacturers making fiberglass products including fishing tackle. They also made a line of fishing lures, one called the bottom scratcher. I would date it to the 1950s/60s.

I believe the correct flyrod line is a 6 wt based on the D marking. If you have a fly rod shop in the area, they could help you by the feel of the rod as well.
