QuestionI am interested in any history about Hurst lock & mfg reguarding the production of their rod/reel combo. How many were made,changes in design over the yrs.they mfg'rd them (1945-49?) Also rumor has it the rods were made from jeep antennas from ww2..any truth? I had one as a young boy and loved it.

I don't have a tremendous amount of history. The concept was a good idea at the wrong time. In the 1940s spin casting rods and reels took over from the bait casting reels (no thumbing required to cast a spinning reel). So the Supercaster was made for a short period of time.
The common version was the Supercaster which had wood grip ran about $45, the less expensive and more rare version was the basic caster which had plastic grips on the handle ran about $27 in the 40s.
