Answer
Alpo,
I made the question public so others can learn from your questions.
How do you know your rod is a fly rod ? Where is the reel in relation to the handle , above or below? Is the rod round or flat sided ?
I could not find an automatic Shakespeare 1837 in Antique & Collectible Fishing Reels: Identification, Evaluation & Maintenance Homel, & Jellison. 1996. He mentions several autos with simular numbers 1826 and 1847 with value of $4, 6 and $12 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
My guess is value of $65, 160 and $275 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. It is a guess only , I could be wrong either high or low because i lack some facts to help you id it. I have seen a bunch of Heddon rods, he made Pals , Black beautys , models with numbers but I need you to verify that the rod itself has lettering on it " heddon pal black beauty #75 "?
Let me know and I will get your more information.
Luck,
Mac
