Great Lakes Products Rod

Rod   QUESTION: Hi,
I have a Great Lakes Products 5' glass casting rod with cork handle in very nice condition. The steel reel seat is stamped "Great Lakes Products, Lexington, Mich. Do these rods have any collector value. They are not easy to find on Ebay.

Great lakes made medium to low quality fishing tackle at high volume. There tackle is at the low end of the value range. The rod is $5-15 range.

If you go into ebay>outdoor sports>fishing>vintage and search on Great Lakes you will see products for sale.

QUESTION: Thanks for your help. I guess I have the cheap one although it seems to be an extremely well made rod. I noticed that the Great Lakes Whirlaway Rod Reel Combo goes for $75 UP in Fishing Collectible Price Guise by Russell Lewis.

the Whirlaway was an integral rod and reel. The early versions are selling for closer to $50, later version below that. If you have the original box they would be in the $75 to $100 range.

In general values on fishing tackle are down with the economy.
