Question
Heddon rod
I have a Heddon #115 Premier 7 1/2 ft 1/2 f bamboo rod 2 tips. This rod has never been used (still has the plastic wrap around the cork handle). I inherited it and I would like an estimate of value as I am interested in selling. I have several photos and am attaching one to give an idea of condition.
AnswerHi Ritha,
This model was made by Heddon exclusively for Sears. It was sold in Sears stores but also carried the Heddon name because Sears got a better price on the rods for allowing Heddon to advertise in this way inside the Sears stores.
In Mint condition, the Model #115 Heddon in 7 1/2 foot length would be valued in the $1200-$1500 range...perhaps more. Typically, the shorter versions of the bamboo fly rods are the more desireable and more valuable. In this case, since the rod is truly Mint condition, and it is likely a fairly scarce model, it is probably worth whatever soem one is willing to pay to own it.
If you can document in some fashion the history of the rod, it will help with value.
Thanks, Joe
