Vintage Fenwick spinning rod

Question
My first 4 pc spinning rod, a Fenwick (possibly a FS 70-4??) 1960's vintage, recently surfaced.  I am thinking of restoring it for old times sake, although it is cosmetically pretty bad--all decals, cork rings, etc, totally destroyed.  I would like to restore it to near original, although that is not a prioity.  Is anything available for restoration, or do I just go to the cataglogs and try to pick up generic stuff that might work?  I have had some rod-building experience.  Thanks for any advice you can give.

Answer
Hi Rich,

Cork rings, pre-formed cork handles in the Fenwick style, guides, thread, finishes, epoxy, etc, should all be available from about any rod building supply house.  Check the web sites and catalogs of all the major ones and see what they have available.

The "twine or cording" used in the butt wrap may be hard to find as would be the decals.  Fenwick is still in business.  Check their web site for any items that might be available for retoration projects.

The Fenwick decal may also be something that a place like Decal Connection could reproduce...it's probably worth a call to them to ask.

Good luck.  When you start the project, if you need help with anything, let me know.

Thanks,  Joe
