Mohawk Fish Rod
Question
Hey Joe, I have a Mohawk Fish Rod. It is a telescoping type. It does not have a Model Name on it. All it has is the name, Mohawk Fish Rod, Utica, NY H&I and of course Made in the USA. It is in good shape, all eyelets still in tact. It appears to be a fly rod as the Reel retainer is at the butt of the rod and the cork is above it.
Just wondering about this thing, picked it up from a neighbor a number of years ago. It has been sitting in the corner of the closet since. Is there a market for these things? If you could help me out that would be great!
Best regards,
Thom
Answer
Hi Thom,
It was sold by Horrocks-Ibbotson (H-I) and I assume it is steel...which means it was probably made by someone like Horton Manufacturing or one of their competitors for H-I. These telescoping steel rods are not particularly rare and they don't have any real collector following. Value would be in the $5-$25 range depending on actual condition.
Thanks, Joe
