QuestionIs this rod worth $60?
've been told this rig is from the 1920's to the 1930's.
Nine foot Montague, three piece, two guides temporarily taped on - need rewound. Transport eyelet is there. Cork handle and ferules in good shape.
Pflueger Progress reel freshly cleaned and oiled. It is the two wood handled model and is wound with silk line.
With a little tlc, this vintage rod would be great to use again or just hang it on your den wall.

If the rod was made from 20s to 30s odds are very good it would have intermediate wraps every 1-3 inches.
If it is in working condition it could be worth $60 or even more if it is a 2 piece 7-8 foot model.
The model should be written in cursive on the butt section.
I guessed you copied this text from an ad and thought maybe ebay - but found it on Denver Craigslist.
The rod is not from the 20s or 30s no matter what the owner was told. The Bakelite or plastic reel seal insert was not made until 1946 ish.
I would not pay $60 for it. Maybe $20 would be more fair. It is in poor condition (guides) - not usable. It would make a great project - learn to restore type rod , which I usually pay $10 for similar. I am in Denver, e-mail me
[email protected] I have better rods and will sell you one like this for $25.
Montague are mass produced rods , low quality and this is not a rose in the rough, although there are some good ones.
The reel is in poor condition also.
Luck,
Mac
