Position of a successful set for 12 years old girls

What is a good position for a setter to set the ball for the hitters (12 yr old girls)? Closer to the net or further away.

If you are playing on a regulation net (height wise) it is better to set off the net simply because most 12 year olds do not jump high enough to get to ball over consistantly.  I would set them off the net and asthey become more and more consistant I would move the sets closer to the net.  This and serving are the only things I would change though.  I believe in working on blocking even though the athlete may not get over the net (this teaches proper foot work, body positin and it helps the defense get into the right position).  Teach an actual offense be a 5-1, 6-2 ro 4-2. and make offensive and defensive switches so they get to understand the game as early as possible.
