FAIR PLAY
Question
Is it allowed for a player to stomp his/her feet on the court or to clap his/her hands directly in front or near an opposing player making a block or an attack?
In basketball, clapping to distract an opponent in the act of shooting is a technical foul. I wonder if this is also considered a misdemeanor in volleyball. The FIVB rules are not very specific on this.
Thanks!
Answer
Mark,
It is not permitted. With the girls/women there should be a warning and with the boys/men there should be an automatic red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. The rule should be under sanctions. It may not specifically say stamping or clapping but it is considered unsportsmanlike.
