Daughter volleyball player
Question
Hello and thank you for reading my question. My daughter is a senior at a rural community high school and has played volleyball since her freshman year. She is an honor student, well involved in school activities, and excited about college.
She is 5' 11", a middle hitter, and has been voted to all star teams for the last two years.
We live in Northeast Pennsylvania and she goes to a small school district. She was the leader of her team this year and they went undefeated until playoffs.
My question is how is the best way to approach coaches at prospective colleges? Should I write a letter to them and send newspaper clippings of her achievements?
We dont own a video camera so I can't send any tapes. I have heard of companies you can pay to put your childs name out there, but it is expensive and confusing.
My daughter really loves the sport and wants to play in college. It would be great to help her along the way and try to get her recruited. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time. Kyle.
Answer
Anything you can do will not hurt, but I have got to tell you, the most powerful way to self-introduce your daughter is through the recruiting video. I have an article about it here:

So, I would recommend borrowing someone's video camera and spend a weekend putting it together.
