Questionhi there, i am a DS and i only played 1 year of volleyball for my high school team. i was ont he frosh team or the lowest level. i was wondering if u can help me with some individual drills for consistent passes. id say about 70% of my passes are good but other times i jsut shank and i get down on myself because im a DS and my passes are expected to be good. another problem with me is that i have trouble being "wild" and diving around everywhere. i know for DS you have to be aggressive and willing. i know im supposed to be like that but i just cant do it for some reason. so yea can u give me some drills for consistent passes and have the willingness to dive around and be "wild". id be great if u can give me drills for both individual practice and practices with 2 or more people. thanks, i really appreciate it.
AnswerKevin,
There really isn't any passing drills you can do on your own, you need a partner. What you need to do is pass a million balls. Pass to a target off a toss, do this with a coach or partner tossing you ball right to you, then toss balls 2 feet to your right and left, then 4 feet, then 6 feet etc. Then toss the ball all over the place. Do the same thing with a down ball and a served ball. As far as diving, this is an instinctual thing, once you start doing it, you will do it with out thinking. Kneel down on both knees, then pick one leg so that one knee is on the floor and the other is bent at 90 degrees, bend and put both hands on the floor and push off with your legs, with your hands in front of you push off and bring them down to your side......you should have slit across the floor on your chest. Once you are comfortable with this push off with your legs and launch your body straight out, right before you hit the floor put your hands and then slide across the floor. Finally stand up, take a step and dive just like you practiced from the kneeling position. Then do it with a ball that you HAVE to dive for.
I hope this helped. I know it may sound a bit confusing so if you have trouble e-mail me at
