timing

Question
my daughter has been playing volleyball for 3 years now 7th, 8th and 9th grade in school. She's joined a club for the first time. Her timing is still off for hitting, is there hope for her?

Answer
Rita,

Sure, some kids take a little longer than others.  With hope her club coach will be good and her setter will be more consistent.  One thing that I have found that helps kids is what I call the tennis ball drill.  Have your daughter hold a tennis ball in her hitting hand.  Take her regular approach, jump, swing and release the ball so that it is travelling at a downward angle (to simulate the contact of the ball).  This helps her approach, swing, jump and it could help her timing.

Good luck,
Steve
